Yi Zhuiying

[personal profile] zhuiying 2020-01-03 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yi Zhuiying is an outer disciple of the Lan Sect and a bit of a black sheep. Too hell-bent on revenge against a nameless, faceless menace that's haunted him from his childhood - literally just every bandit on the planet - even the Lan Sect's solid self-restraint, elegance, and poise only barely manages to contain the ever-present cold rage that bubbles beneath the surface.

Though a talented cultivator, he's far more interested in hunting bandits than he is in hunting monsters or dealing with spirits. He just can't quite get over the mortal elements of the world to deal with anything beyond.

He smiles little, and while he will sometimes work with others if ordered to or if their goals align with his, he keeps fucking off to kill bandits when he's not supposed to.

Doesn't make friends easily though he's loyal to a fault once he does - he will basically kill a man in an instant for Lan Xichen but he can barely bring himself to even listen to the sect leader Lan Qiren.

Planning an assault on the layer of the Iron Wolf, King of Bandits, he fully intends to go in alone and carry out the assassination himself.

Maybe if he can cut off the Wolf's head, the rest of the beast will wither and die...

So come plot with me i guess LMFAO

so I am thinking he probably met Jiji on one of his many visits to GusuLan to visit his brother and empty LQR's fridge.

Zong RiYue

[personal profile] tsukijiji 2020-01-03 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Zong RiYue is officially an Imperial retainer and envoy acting as a sort of unofficial liaison between the Sects and the Imperial Court (basically making sure the Emperor minds his business and the Sects mind theirs and no one is stepping on any toes). At least that's what people believe, because no one has ever said exactly what his job is, and he certainly isn't saying when he comes knocking on your Sect's door to empty the the fridge.

There are rumors floating around though that he himself is also a trained cultivator and that he trained with Lan Yi... or is it BaoShan SanRen.... who even knows? Mostly, he spends his time travelling from Sect to Sect, networking with Sect leaders over tea/alcohol, and seemingly doing little else.

He visits GusuLan more often because his brother is a Lan Cultivator and they like to meet up some time.

Beitang Moran

[personal profile] beitangmoran 2020-01-03 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Beitang Moran is the current Imperial regent, holding the reins of power for his nephew who is currently too young to take the throne and wield power for himself.

He normally would have little reason to involve himself in Sect politics and in fact actively tries not to, but Sunshot campaign is getting messy and normal people are being affected, plus his right-hand man Su XunXian is currently missing and he suspects that one Sect might be responsible and hold him captive.

He will probably ride out at some point to remind cultivators that normal people would very much like to not die, so if you could stop messing things up for them that would be grand.

I also welcome assassinations attempts, although given that he has future visions it'll probably be hard to catch him for that. If he's nice, he might tell you to move before the flower pot falls on your head.

Wen Fen

[personal profile] hatejakku 2020-01-03 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[ I'm coming up with a lot of this on the fly so lmk if this interferes with someone else's plans. I'm more than open to being flexible winkwink. Again you can find me on plurk ([plurk.com profile] linatrinch) and discord (jb#9174) if you wanna chat.

Also, I've yet to finish the show/read the book, so let me know if I get some canon things wrong pls thx. ]

Wen Fen lost his parents at an age too young to remember. As a member of the Wen clan, he was taken to the Nightless City and raised there but was never a part of the main Wen sect. He was always going to be a more auxiliary member of the Wen clan and was never bothered by this.

But as he got older, he started to see how cruel the Wen clan really was and how they were viewed by outsiders. He began trying to do better than his peers but his acts were too small to be noticed. Then the whole Yin Iron thing started, everything got a lot worse, and Fen was pretty sickened with the whole problem.

He became a cultivator, as he was always meant to be, and had basically stayed with the Wen clan out of guilt, fear, and trying to right their wrongs from the inside. It doesn't really go great, and he's continually mistreated and threatened but never kicked out or killed.

During the Sunshot Campaign, the Wen sect is going to take a member of the Jiang sect prisoner, leading to Fen's red string to light up. Presumably, after a... more or less successful rescue and escape, he'll either be on his own or trying to chill with the Jiang sect. His future's going to end up pretty interesting and tangled and probably mega angsty, so we'll see how that plays out.

Zong Xinwen

[personal profile] harai 2020-01-05 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
While Zong Riyue decided to make his living doing court liaison stuff, big brother Xinwen saw a nice mountain, went up, and basically never left. The Gusu Lan lifestyle suits him; he appreciates the quiet solitude and the importance of self-betterment through meditation and restraint, and he also greatly enjoys improving his qin skills.

He's a healer by nature, much preferring to partake in situations where the outcome will be happier as opposed to a bloodier end. He specializes in cleansing rituals (homes, people, donkeys, etc.), probably some possession stuff, and he's always working on strengthening his ability to control and balance out qi. Just let this guy help you feel better, basically.

Everything on the mountain has gone well for Xinwen; his brother visits reasonably often and they're able to have quiet moments together to catch up, or Xinwen will take Riyue down to Caiyi so they can be a little more free (and so baby brother can drink). But then the Fire Nation attacked and that changed everything. During the attack, Xinwen did his best to gather up as many of the younger disciples or those who couldn't quite hold their own and get them to safety, whether that meant to the back of the mountain or hidden away from the attacking forces.

When it comes to the Sunshot Campaign, he tends to hang back and play support more than put himself on the front lines. Everyone needs a healer in a war, in more ways than just physically. But Xinwen can't escape the conflict forever and he always has his sword, Huashi, at his side and when he's in battle, he hits hard. He's a solid man and for those who don't know him, looking at him might inspire questions of why he never became a part of the Nie Sect because surely he'd be able to wield a saber with little problem.

Basically his personality is the same as his sword boy self, but if you're unfamiliar with that, just holler and I'll cry on you more!

Shan Jingzhu

[personal profile] diametric 2020-01-19 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
Jingzhu grew up in the Jin sect as one of their disciples until he found himself unable to reconcile his own personal honor with the actions of the current sect leader and as such defected. As a respected cultivator, he did travel on his own for a while, helping out where he could but eventually found himself stepping into a somewhat minor role in the imperial court when he was no longer able to follow the path of cultivation.

His sword sealed itself and while he keeps it, he prefers to do his work with other tools, namely his intellectual abilities and skill with words.
